Ecuador will send 36 tons of humanitarian aid to the victims of mudslides that killed at least 800 people in Brazil, the Foreign Ministry said.
Bottled water, food, hygiene and cleaning kits are among the items that will be shipped, the ministry declared.
Heavy rains in the second week of January sent torrents of water and mud sliding through towns and villages in a mountainous area just north of Rio de Janeiro, killing hundreds.
At least, another 200 people are still missing and 14,000 remain homeless, according to Rio’s state health and civil defense service.
The disaster is considered the worst natural catastrophe in Brazil’s history.
