GUATEMALA CITY — Authorities in Guatemala seized 38 barrels of drug precursor Dimetil and dismantled an illegal drug lab May 19, the country’s National Civilian Police said.
In the operation, a joint effort by the police and the Attorney General’s office, authorities also seized 480 sacks of caustic soda, a processor, a burner and three large boilers. Dimetil is used in the production of illegal stimulants.
The substances were hidden in a construction warehouse west of the capital, authorities added.
The seized cargo was taken to a secure facility, where it will undergo further analysis. No arrests were made at the site.
