On July 27, the U.S. government delivered two state-of-the-art medical isolation units for patient transfer to the Peruvian National Police. The modern units are especially important to save lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The medical isolation and transport unit, known as EpiShuttles, guarantees utmost biosecurity to provide assistance and treatment when transferring COVID-19 patients. The donation of these units, in addition to personnel training for proper handling, is worth $235,000.
During the handover ceremony, Denison Offutt, chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Peru, stressed that U.S. help to Peru amid the COVID-19 pandemic has reached $20 million so far, and included 250 modern ventilators that were recently donated to Peru to distribute in different regions of the country.
