Honduras: Cocaine lab seized by authorities

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – A lab used to make cocaine was discovered by law enforcement agents in the district of San Francisco in the province of Atlántida on Aug. 28, police said.
The laboratory featured all the necessities to make cocaine, including 500 kilograms (1,102 pounds) of cocaine paste, according to media reports.
The National Directorate of Special Investigative Services, National Office for Combating Drug Trafficking and police officers are gathering evidence from the lab. No arrests have been made.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is assisting Honduran authorities in the fight against narcotics in the Central American country.
Honduran law enforcement agents have confiscated about six tons of cocaine so far in 2012.
