The leader of Colombia’s National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrilla organization’s Captain Mauricio Front, operating in the North and Bajo Cauca, areas of Antioquia department, alias “Víctor” or “El Negro”, was killed during a military operation carried out by the Mobile Brigade No. 25 troops of the National Army’s Seventh Division.

“Víctor” was accused of murdering at least seven soldiers between June 2007 and August 2012.

The leader was also guilty of organizing an entrapment to a National Police patrol in the section of Chispero de Segovia on July 7, 2012. Four police officers died in the incident. Furthermore, he is considered the mastermind of several civilian and military kidnappings.

His death is another conclusive blow against the ELN structure.
