The United States plans to reopen a radar base on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica in a cooperative venture to fight narcotrafficking. The base in Nandayure in Guanacaste province has been closed since 1995, said Paul Trivelli, Civilian Deputy to the Commander at U.S. Southern Command, in an interview with Costa Rican daily La Nación in October.
