eynaldo Torres, left, a blind Colombian Soldier, ran in the Nov. 1 New York City Marathon with the help of Colombian Army Col. Luis Vargas, liaison officer at the U.S. Southern Command. Torres was left blind after suffering combat wounds from an improvised explosive device. He was among 11 Colombian Soldiers injured in combat operations against the FARC to run in the marathon, one of the largest in the world. Torres finished the 42 km race in 04:33:18. The winner was Meb Keflezighi of the U.S. with a time of 2:09:15.
