As part of the Peruvian Navy’s priorities for 2011, officers from that armed service participated in the Tactical Course for Deployment of SH-3D Aircraft at the Brazilian Navy’s San Pedro de Aldeia Naval Air Base, Rio de Janeiro.
The objective of participation in this course, offered on September 12 and 13, was to satisfy the need to acquire greater experience in this kind of training, as well as to expand the Naval personnel’s technical and operational knowledge in this area.
The selection process for the group that received the training took into account the academic achievements, professional performance, and competencies of the candidate officers. Those chosen were Commanders David Murphy and Pedro Farfan, Lieutenant Commander Rolando Alvarado, Chief Petty Officers Publio Estacio and Fredy Laime, and Petty Officers First Class Gilmar La Rosa and José Cruz.
The Peruvian Navy operates three SH-3D Sea King naval helicopters, which are capable of carrying Exocet AM-39 anti-ship missiles.
