Federal and local officials will now have access to nationwide crime statistics, allowing Brazilian authorities to focus counternarcotics efforts. Coordinated by the
Federal Police and the Brazilian National Secretariat of Public Security, the pilot
project gathers details on drug seizures, including where the seizures take place, the
suspects’ demographics and the amount confiscated. Additionally, the National Database
on Drug Seizures and Related Properties contains data on all property — including
vehicles, weapons, real estate, vessels and aircrafts — seized during counternarcotics
raids by local and federal officials.
