Some example of these include Joint Task Force Matthew, a SOUTHCOM-led response to aid Haiti after 2016's Hurricane Matthew ravaged the nation by deploying, mobilizing, and providing humanitarian aid efforts, equipment, etc. Another example was the 2016 earthquake in Ecuador for which the System of Cooperation Among American Air Forces (SICOFAA) coordinated the response and aid delivered to the country.

A little more than five years after a massive earthquake killed more than 230,000 people in Haiti and triggered a massive humanitarian crisis, the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) played an important role in providing security and supporting the United Nations, the International Community, and other organizations in helping the Caribbean nation recover and rebuild.
