To defeat any possible terrorist attacks in the Gulf region, Saudi’s Emergency Force engaged in its fourth phase of training called Sawlet al-Haq (The Round of Truth) in which live ammunition was used.
The Saudi Emergency Force was created in 1972 to support the police in dealing with narcotrafficking. By the 1990s it took charge of anti-terror missions.
There are 13 counterterrorism centers affiliated with the Saudi Emergency Force across the kingdom. The force has been deployed in anti-piracy operations as well as rescue operations in hijacked planes.
