PANAMA CITY — Panama’s Aero-Naval service (SEMAN) and the U.S. Coast Guard seized 1,175 kilograms (2,590 pounds) of cocaine in an operation Aug. 4 in the Panamanian Caribbean coast, authorities said.
SENAN Commissioner Ramón López said that after being spotted by authorities, three drug traffickers aboard a 45-foot vessel threw several bales containing the narcotic overboard and headed in the direction of Colombia.
So far this year, Panamanian authorities have seized 15.5 tons of drugs, López added.
