The Social Communication Section of the Eastern Military Command announces that the closing ceremony for the Brazilian Army’s activities in the “Arcanjo Pacification Force” will take place on July 9, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., when the Public Safety Secretariat of the State of Rio de Janeiro will permanently take over responsibility for policing and security in the areas of the Penha and Alemão complexes.

The event will take place at the Pacification Force Operational Base, located in the old Coca-Cola factory in the Alemão complex, in Rio de Janeiro.

Following the ceremony, there will be a parade displaying the vehicles used by the Brazilian Army during the Pacification Force (FPac). The escorted convoy will start at the Pacification Force Base and end at Vila Militar in Deodoro.

The governor of Rio de Janeiro State, Sérgio Cabral Filho, the commander of the Army, General Enzo Martins Peri, the commander of the Eastern Military Command, General Adriano Pereira Júnior, and other officials are expected to attend.

The commander of the CML takes this opportunity to thank the population of the city of Rio de Janeiro, especially the residents of the Penha and Alemão complexes, for the orderly and always cordial way they coexisted with the Military personnel of the Pacification Force, hoping that the peace achieved will be permanent and lasting.
