Guatemalan Man Arrested in Costa Rica with 224 Kilos of Cocaine

The Costa Rican Public Safety Ministry announced on April 11 that Costa Rican anti-drug authorities seized 224 kilos of cocaine from a Guatemalan citizen who was transporting the narcotics in a truck from Panama.



The announcement about the seizure also stated that the drugs were hidden among candy in the truck, which had Honduran plates. The seizure took place in the evening of April 10 at the Peñas Blancas border crossing between Costa Rica and Nicaragua.



The authorities identified the individual arrested by the surnames of Pacheco-Godoy, 51 years old, who was carrying 220 dollars and 890 Nicaraguan córdobas. He was taken to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Liberia, the capital of the province of Guanacaste.



On March 30, the authorities seized 256 kilograms of cocaine from a Salvadoran citizen.
