Croat-led cocaine smuggling group arrested in Caribbean

ZAGREB, Croatia – Police on the Caribbean island of Martinique arrested a Croatian-led group of cocaine traffickers who tried to smuggle drugs worth several million euros from Colombia to Europe, officials said here on May 9.
A total of 174 kilos (384 pounds) of cocaine, worth €8 million (US$10 million), was seized on a Croatian yacht off the French Caribbean island of Martinique, interior ministry officials said, quoted by HINA news agency.
Nine Croatians, including the main organizer of the smuggling group, one Colombian and one Serbian national were detained, HINA said, without revealing when bust had taken place.
Police from Croatia cooperated with their counterparts from France, the Netherlands, Italy, the Dominican Republic and the United States in the action.
