Colombian Soldiers Win Gold in Military Taekwondo World Championship

Two gold medals and one silver was the outcome of the Colombian Military forces in the Taekwondo World Championship that was celebrated from October 19 to October 26, 2012 in Hochiminh City, Vietnam.
The Colombian delegation was headed by the Air Force Sports Office, with eight athletes in Pumse and Individual Combat. Alongside the athletes, a delegate, two coaches, and a physical trainer had the important mission of getting the medals to Colombia.
Once they returned, the Colombian team was honored with the Distinguished Service Medal of the Colombian Military Forces by General Alejandro Navas Ramos, Colombian Military Forces’ Commander, as a way to recognize their discipline, training, and perseverance; fundamental elements to achieve the goals in an honorable place at an international level.
Representatives from 36 countries participated in the event, among which Colombia was ranked sixth place in the overall standings.
