The Colombian Navy will have completed combined exercises with naval units from Costa Rica by late June and early July, according to the agreements of maritime cooperation between both nations.
Therefore, Colombian vessel ARC “Valle del Cauca” has been sent to that country, and the multipurpose vessel ARC “Cartagena de Indias” might also participate in the event, in order to perform maritime training exercises, as well as training for interdiction and search and rescue operations, with units of the Costa Rican National Coast Guard Service.
The ARC “Valle del Cauca” has a crew of 100 members, including officers, non-commissioned officers, Marines, and a course of 20 seamen that will become Colombian National Navy NCOs. It traveled to Puerto Caldera, the most important commercial port on the Costa Rican Pacific, for the exercises.
