In six operations, the Colombian Public Force seized more than 10.5 tons of drugs in various areas of the country. On March 11, 2021, the Navy and the Army, in coordination with the Police, seized 561 kilograms of marijuana that two individuals were transporting in a vessel on the Guapi River, Valle del Cauca department. The drug belonged to dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, who intended to move the narcotics to Central America, the Colombian Military Forces’ General Command (CGFM, in Spanish) said in a press release.
That same March 11, the police reported the results of an operation in Cartagena Port, where they found 712 kg of cocaine hydrochloride in a separator tank, used in the oil industry, that was to be shipped to Mexico in a container.

On March 6, the police reported another operation where they seized 4 tons of marijuana that was being transported in a tanker vehicle north of Cauca. The drug was hidden in bags of molasses.
On March 4, after days of monitoring and night infiltration maneuvers, Army service members intercepted two vessels that attempted to smuggle 3,538 kg of marijuana in 75 bags via the Yarí River, bordering the Caquetá and Amazonas departments, the Army said in a statement.
“This operation is the largest seizure of narcotics carried out in Amazonas department,” the Colombian Military Forces said in a video. “The two criminals who were trying to smuggle the drug into the neighboring country of Brazil chose to jump into the river and escape.”
The CGFM reported another blow to criminal organizations on March 2, when units detected an individual on the coast of San Juan, Chocó department, who was hiding 915 kg of cocaine hydrochloride that belonged to the National Liberation Army guerrilla group.
Also on March 2, the Army, the Police, and the Office of the Attorney General seized 800 kg of cocaine hydrochloride in a parking lot in Carepa, Antioquia, the CGFM reported. The drug load, which was bound for Central American countries, belonged to the criminal organization Clan del Golfo, the institution added.
From January to March 2021, the public force seized 56,797 kg of cocaine hydrochloride and 50,311 kg of marijuana, according to data of the Colombian Ministry of Justice.
