Chilean-led and U.S. Southern Command- (SOUTHCOM) sponsored exercise Southern Star 25, May 24-June 8, brought together more than 2,500 participants from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Spain, and the United States, with observers from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, Japan, and Peru. Southern Star is the largest Special Operations Forces (SOF) training exercise in the Western Hemisphere. Partner forces trained in staged, real-world hostile situations, such as compound raids; search and rescue; visit, board, search, and seizure; and live fire weapons training, to increase tactical performance under pressure and strive toward successful mission results.
