Mexico’s Federal Police led a regional seminar in October 2011 to share its knowledge and experience in fighting organized crime. More than 50 police officers from 25 countries in Central America, South America and the Caribbean participated in the event in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

The Mexican police explained their processes for collecting information, organizing and analyzing it, and making decisions.

The backbone in the fight against transnational organized crime is police professionalism, said Adam Blackwell, secretary for multidimensional security for the Organization of American States (OAS). He added that Mexico and Colombia are leading the way on that front.

The Mexican Government and the OAS organized the event.
